About Us

The club was formed some fifteen years ago to enable anyone interested in music of The Shadows to get together once a month to play their instruments amongst similarly enthusiastic folk.

 

It has come a long way since those early days and our meetings feature both live band sessions with guitars, keyboards and drums plus solo performances by guitarists playing to professionally produced backing tracks. Some of us like to emulate Cliff Richard or other famous singers from the days of rock and roll, so an interesting cross section of music from the fifties, sixties and even later periods can be enjoyed by members and visitors alike.

 

The club has its own amplifiers and PA system so anyone wanting to play just needs his or her own guitar and they are ready to go. If they don’t play or even wish to, that’s equally fine as we have quite a large number of non-playing members who visit regularly to enjoy the music in a friendly atmosphere. 

 

We usually meet on the last Sunday of the month at the Exeter Court Hotel at Kennford, located just off the M5 and to the rear of the service station at the bottom of Haldon Hill, where the road splits to Torbay or Plymouth. (See Contact page for map location).

 

Our sessions start at around 1pm and continue until 5.30pm, so why not pop in for a visit – you’ll certainly be made most welcome.
